Zug is a German speaking city located on Lake Zug. It has a population of around 26'000 people. Known as a tax haven, it is a sought after location for both individuals and businesses. Companies such as Xstrata, Transocean, Siemens Building Technologies and V-Zug are based here. Zug is the main town of the canton of Zug consisting of 11 municipalities and two lakes.
Most places of interest and museums can be found in the old town. Trips to the Zugerberg or the ruins of the Hünenberg castle, followed by a barbeque or picnic, are popular in summer. The local specialty, Zuger Kirschtorte, is a layered cake made up of nut meringue, sponge cake and butter cream, flavoured with kirsch. Zug Tourism offers guided bakery tours, in addition to its city, cultural and historical tours.
Zug may be small but it is a high quality destination. It is compact, so everything is very close by. Zug is beautifully situated at the foothills of the Alps amidst magnificent scenery with its two lakes and is well known for the stunning sunsets over Lake Zug. It is also known for its cherries, the international companies that are headquartered there and the high standard of living. Zug – it is a joy just being here.

Climate and Seasons
Similar to other central European countries, Switzerland has a mainly continental climate with four seasons each year. The climate in Zug is moderate with no excessive heat, cold or humidity. From July to August the daytime temperature range usually is 20 to 32 °C and from January to February -2 to 7 °C with occasional snowfall. In spring and autumn, the daytime temperature average is 8 to 15 °C.

As a confederation, Switzerland does not have a capital city. However, Bern is often referred to as the capital. Correctly, it is the federal city.
